At the end of August, we hosted our second summer webinar, a dynamic two-day event filled with insightful presentations and discussions centered around the integration of digital twins and trusted innovations. The sessions catered to a diverse audience, facilitating meaningful exchanges between professionals from various fields.
- On Day 1 (August 29th, 2024), the webinar started with an introduction led by Michael O’Donohue (INRAE), this was followed by an engaging talk on Trusted Research Environments for Safe Access to Sensitive Data, chaired by Christian Cole (Dundee) and Andy Rae (UNOTT).
After the midday break, Antonis Kokossis (NTUA) delved into the concept of “What is a Digital Twin?”, offering valuable insights into this innovative technology. Later, Jakob Kjøbsted Huusom (DTU) explored the Digitalization of pilot plants to enhance research and engineering education, sharing practical approaches to integrating digital tools into research. The day concluded with Marjan De Mey (UGENT) addressing DeCYPher—Data Management and Links to Bioindustry 4.0, highlighting key trends in bioindustry data management. - Day 2 (August 30th, 2024) continued with a focus on interoperability, as Magalie Weber and Liliana Ibanescu (INRAE) presented how the PO2/TransformON and FermentON domain ontologies can facilitate data reuse in bioprocesses. To close the event, Michael O’Donohue led a consortium-exclusive discussion on “After BioIndustry? Discussion about call opportunities.”
Throughout the event, attendees actively engaged in discussions, exchanging diverse perspectives on digitalization, data management, and research innovation, making it a truly enriching experience for all involved.
