Second Annual Meeting in Barcelona

For our third physical full-consortium meeting (including the kick-off meeting two years ago), nearly 60 members of Bioindustry 4.0 gathered in Barcelona, Spain. The event was hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in their beautiful Art Nouveau campus Casa Convalescència.

The meeting agenda was intense, with two and a half fully packed days from 28th to 30th of January. The day before on the 27th, our public Digital Twinning Technology training session took place at the same location, so some of the organisers and trainers had the chance to arrive in sunny Barcelona a little earlier.

The first day of the annual meeting was dedicated to catching up with the process of partners over the last year and concluded by a workshop. The whole consortium worked on exploring and defining the services that Bioindustry4.0 focuses on, as well as on discussing our upcoming co-design workshops to which we want to invite stakeholders.
To decompress, we met up for a delicious communal dinner in the evening.

The next day was devoted to lectures on digital tools and artificial intelligence held by guest experts Toni Manzano (of AIZON) and Nicolas Antunes (of AlgoTech). This was followed by internal workshops on data management and data analytics. During the last day our partner DSMZ, leads on our strain discovery tools and on the StrainsBook, held an interactive workshop to discuss AI and LLM for microbial strain research.
